ROYAL FOWEY REGATTA SAILING EVENTS

Fowey regatta sailing events

Royal Fowey Regatta sailing week attracts many visiting yachtsmen and details of the sailing and entry forms can be found on the dedicated Fowey Sailing Committee website.

Regatta Week takes place every year in the third week of August with a mixture of handicap classes and fleets for the serious racers and also for the more relaxed crews.

Racing takes place in St. Austell Bay, unless the weather restricts the dinghy classes, Fowey Rivers and Troys to shorter courses inside the harbour.

For the Cruisers, the week starts on Sunday with the traditional handicap passage race to Flushing, and then the return race from Falmouth the following day.

The Falmouth Working Boats always enjoy racing and socialising in Fowey. Watching them race in Fowey is always exciting for spectators and they finish their race every day on the club line inside the harbour in front of the RFYC. This is usually quite a spectacle.

The Troys, Fowey Rivers and dinghies start their morning races outside the harbour (weather permitting) and complete triangular courses in the bay directly outside Fowey harbour entrance. In the afternoon they start and finish from a committee boat positioned inside the harbour between the Town Quay and the Albert Quay.

After the racing sailors gather in either the Royal Fowey Yacht Club or Fowey Gallants Sailing Club to recount the days events over a beer or two and relax with their family and friends.
